Locum Cardiovascular Surgeon – Wisconsin Location: WI Facility: Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee Hospital Secondary Location: Water Tower Medical Commons Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgery Provider Type: MD / DO Position Type: Locum Tenens Setting: Inpatient / Outpatient / ED / Call Coverage EMR: Epic Start Date: December 8, 2026 Position Overview Seeking a Board-Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon for locum tenens coverage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This opportunity is for an experienced cardiovascular surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical coverage alongside the existing cardiovascular surgery team. The provider will be responsible for performing cases, managing surgical patients, and providing inpatient, outpatient, and call coverage. The facility is specifically seeking a surgeon who is comfortable performing cases directly and not referring or transferring cases out . Schedule & Coverage Start Date: December 8, 2026 Coverage needed approximately 15–20 days per month Schedule will be coordinated with the current cardiovascular surgeon Coverage includes: Daytime clinical responsibilities Weeknight call Night call In-house call coverage Clinical Responsibilities Perform cardiovascular surgical procedures Manage inpatient cardiovascular surgery patients Provide outpatient cardiovascular surgery evaluations Participate in surgical consultations Provide emergency and urgent surgical coverage when needed Collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams Complete documentation in Epic Patient Volume Inpatient census: approximately 2–6 patients Outpatient volume: approximately 2–15 patients per day Requirements Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon Active Wisconsin medical license required Facility cannot wait for state licensing ACLS certification required ATLS certification required Eligible for hospital privileges and credentialing Facility Information Metropolitan hospital setting Trauma Level IV facility Adult and geriatric patient population Onsite support: RN MA APP No residents or fellows Additional Details New patient visits: 30 minutes Follow-up visits: 30 minutes Call response time: within 30 minutes or after 3 attempts Return-to-site expectation: within 30 minutes or after 3 attempts Documentation required in real time/by end of shift and post shift Productivity Expectations Productivity will be based on facility census and cardiovascular surgery service needs.
