Join a physician-led emergency department in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, providing solo coverage in a supportive, community-hospital setting. This locum opportunity offers a manageable patient volume, full access to hospital resources, and collaboration with nearby specialists. Highlights 24-hour, solo physician coverage (no APP coverage) 12-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of ~30 patients On-site CT, X-ray, and laboratory services; ultrasound available via transfer protocols Affiliated with HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital with specialist consultation available (Cardiology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Nephrology) EMR: Meditech Key responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of emergency conditions Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and determine appropriate disposition Perform emergency procedures within the scope of Emergency Medicine practice Manage patient care independently during assigned shifts Coordinate transfers and specialty consultations as needed Collaborate with nursing and ancillary teams to ensure high-quality care Complete timely, accurate documentation in Meditech Qualifications MD or DO Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, or Board Certified Family/Internal Medicine with current Emergency Medicine experience Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain one ACLS, BLS, and PALS preferred DEA registration Locum benefits Dedicated 24/7 locum consultant to manage credentialing and scheduling 100% travel reimbursement on top of rate Malpractice and tail coverage provided Competitive hourly rate 1099 independent contractor status EOE
